Charlie's Honcho

when he visits again.
Optional to wear it this way. It makes sense, too. Draw string certainly holds it ether on shoulders or on your head. I mean, it is a mini cloak, so... but it didn't have the hood yet (pictured below), so he plopped it on like this for the picture. I made this as a gift for him with no direct intention to market them but just wait 'til you see what my niece did with HERS!! [below]
This is my gorgeous son. I made him this half-poncho because he walks a lot where he lives and he also tends to get warm easily. Unbeknownst to me, he stopped by for a visit and was ecstatic with this surprise I had made for him.
It is rather hodge-podgie, but that was completely purposeful because I knew that he would appreciate that style the most. "Too fast-fashion/cookie cutter" would have cheesed him off so I kept clear of making that easily avoidable error in this design.
I had started the hood at that time but only a few rows were done. The photo above is him wearing the poncho's hood and because he had made yet another impromptu visit I hadn't had the chance to remind him to bring it so I could attach the two pieces together. Kids...

Kai's Honcho
Kai is my son, Charlie's, girlfriend. As a surprise birthday gift I made her a Honcho, too. Her's is knitted body and crocheted neck and bottom trim area just like Charlie's Honcho.
Alyx's Honcho
My beautiful daughter, Alyx, actress, artist, gardener extraordinaire, a little spit-fire like her mom, also got one for her very belatedly birthday gift. She was certainly NOT expecting this, either.
Lindsay's Honcho
I quickly got these Honchos off in the mail and didn't have notice or literally - a note - included in the package I had sent to Lindz.
So today I get this text from my niece with this picture and a great "thank you so much for the pretty gift, Aunt Michele." OOOPps...but she's fortunate enough to pull this off, sobeit. Now she has a very, pretty and versatile wardrobe item & accessory.

Using multiple strands of the same skein of yarn I increased the thickness/bulkiness of the Honcho.
